Everyone knows how packing for a trip can be daunting and nerve-racking. I used to be a heavy packer but when an opportunity to travel to Singapore came along, I knew I had to change my strategy. Planning ahead is always the key.
Since I’ll be going to another unknown country, I knew I had to be smart on what to pick for my 4 days stay. I want to avoid being stressed especially during the whole journey and end up not being satisfied with what I’d wear on the day itself or worse, having not to use most on my luggage which can be “que horror”.
What I did first is to do an extensive research on what would be the weather forecast for the coming weeks on the place I would be visiting. Singapore is has a humid weather so I immediately knew what I should wear, cutting up the number of pieces would be the challenge.
I might be a bit OC to you but this worked for me big time so I think I could share this with you guys.
First things first,
Make sure you consider the travel essentials
Here’s what I would do: I pack them before my clothes, shoes, bags etc that way I can somehow deduce how much space would be left for those stuff.
Now let’s get down to business.
Here’s what to keep in mind when packing light:
1. Choose pieces that can be mixed and matched with one another. Keywords: Camis and tees in different colors, LBD or LWD. One of each: Jeans, shorts (cotton or denim or both), skirt. Take note: lightweight
Another tip: I also did flatlays and wore the outfit/s and take a picture of it just to see how it would look like when worn. I’d make an album for those and that should be my checklist on my last minute check the day before my trip.
2. With regard to accessories, I usually go to those that can be paired with any of my outfits without hassle. My go-tos are either a sling bag or a tote. Black or Brown colours are versatile but you can also go with bright ones if you will don a minimalist outfit.
3. Speaking of shoes, I’d only settle for just two, sneakers and a fancy flats.
4. Lastly, I would do a test run and pack all of the stuff and see how it will go. Make sure that there’s enough space for your shopping hauls.
That’s it! Happy Packing!. Singapore Diary on its way on the next few days. x
