Ahh Calaguas Island, Camarines Norte is an almost 8-9hr drive and 2 hours boat ride from Manila. Travelling to this beautiful place doesn’t come easy and convenient, I tell you but everything is worth it once you step foot on the sand. A long stretch of fine white sand and blue green clear water will leave you breathless.
While going to the island is kind of tiring and energy-sucking, spending is somewhat cheap for a 2D1N trip. We paid for 3,500 Pesos all-in. I will give out the details on my next blog post.
If you’re going to avail the packages from ubiquitous travel and tours out there, transportation would either be by bus or van. You might want to choose the van especially if you’re a big group but make sure it’s a grandia and not an urvan (trust me, you don’t want spending your 8-9 hours sitting uncomfortably while travelling. It’s a horrible experience)
Vinzon’s port is the jump off point to where you will ride a 2 hour boat bound to Calaguas Island.
You have three options: stay in an eco-village, Waling -Waling where the price is relatively cheap (6,000 pesos good for 6 people with a private bathroom, not bad right?) but the food is way too expensive per person. There is a corkage fee if you bought the food within the vicinity but you can buy everything at the market in Vinzon’s port then pay someone to cook it for the group on the island and eat outside the eco village, pitch a tent somewhere near the island (I recommend you stay near the bathrooms but you have to pay: 10 pesos to pee, 20 pesos to bathe and 30 pesos to, you know “call of nature” thingy), or stay in cottages (when we got there almost all are occupied)
2,700-3,700 Pesos (This is for travel and tours packages) I think DIY can be a bit draining and time consuming for the group.
Tip: Research and read reviews first before choosing to settle on a travel and tours agency. Contact or comment on travel blogs if you have to just to ensure that your 3.5k would be worth it.
