INSTAGRAMMING TAIWAN

Welcome to another series of “Instagramming Places”. Today’s post features Taiwan. I will be sharing some of the grammable places where I took photos and thought you might like to know. Ya know, if ever you haven’t read somewhere, Taiwan just extended the free visa for Philippines residents. Hoorah! If I were you, check our AirAsia or Cebu Pacific for some really cheap airfares. Taiwan is full of scenic sites scattered around the country aside from good food and vibrant culture.

So, if you ever find yourself in the country, hope this would somehow help 🙂

I’ll just jump straight to the reason why I am penning this post:

Chiang Kai-Shek – It was raining when we went outside after a 2-3 hours of sleep. We sent straight to the train station and headed to Chiang Kai-Shek memorial. Because of the weather, we have limited options/places to take photos. There were many students practicing for a performance or just hanging around the area so snapping for some pictures can be quite an effort. Ditch the usual “touristy” pose and try up-close and shot from below angle.

Okay, this is as touristy as it gets but if you’re gonna do it anyway, better yet change the view. View from the National Theatre overlooking the entrance on the east side.

The memorial Hall is currently renovating at that time plus it’s raining so, we did not bother to try taking photos near it. You could use the beautiful roofs of National Theatre or the National Concert Hall.

After our lunch, we went inside the Chiang Kai Shek again and explored the grounds and saw this beautiful garden with a lake. We spotted a bridge which we stopped by to get some snaps.

CHIANG KAI-SHEK MEMORIAL HALL

No.21, Zhongshan S.Rd., Zhongzheng Dist.,

Taipei City 10048, Taiwan (R.O.C)

Opening Hours: 9.00am to 6.00pm

Second stop: Taipei 101 Observatory

We already purchased the tickets via Klook so even though it’s going to be a bit cloudy and the visibility of the city view is low, we had no choice. It’s still a good experience tho. We had fun taking photos and scaring and pulling and pushing each other by the mirrored floor. Be sure to experience this. FUN

Ximending Night Market – this is just behind our hotel and every corner is instagrammable especially at night when there are neon lights.

National Palace Museum grounds – There are sooo many tourists at the top and the grounds were empty so we had a bit of an OOTD shoot. It’s nice to include the greens in the background. Too bad I only had the 35mm lens with me and I have an APS-C camera so I couldn’t add more. You may take this kind of shot instead of the usual straight angle.

The Eco walk at the side of the Museum is a great place to take photos as well! It kinda feels like you’re in a korean drama shoot. LOL

The candid but not so candid shot.

Shifen Old Street – The only grammable shot is to go at the center where the railroad tracks are and pretend to be amazed or look at the sky while people from the background are busy releasing their sky lanterns.

Shilin Night Market – The place gets really crowded come night time so the only thing you can do aside from taking videos is to take the obligatory food shot with a colorful background (preferrably some random stall or the stall you bought the food from). Lighting is key so better take a snap with a good light from behind you.

Train Station – practically anywhere but go to a spot where there is less human traffic and take photos during the night where there are few people.

Taipei Zoo – The rain was quite heavy during our fourth day but we still enjoyed the zoo. Jed and I found this spot somewhere around. I am sure you’ll be able to find this bridge (sorry, I wasn’t able to take note which part of the zoo it’s located). There are many people passing by but we managed to take a good amount of photos. it doesn’t feel like it’s raining, no?  Antartic area – While waiting for the polar bears, we found stone chairs to sit on and we did not miss the chance to take pictures as well.

Outside IKEA  Take photos of yourself while turning your back on the pedestrian lane which will make the Taipei Arena and people crossing your background. We took these before sunset.

Starbucks Ximending Branch – Ate Mi and I are caffeine addicts therefore on our last full day in Taiwan, we decided to grab morning coffee at the Ximending branch. If you happen to be near the place, make sure to visit. The second floor is like a library of some sorts without the books of course. It was quiet and we were able to sneak some photos without disturbing other customers.

Eslite Bookstore Ximending  I think this one’s perfect for my outfit that day. Skirt, thigh high boots, and a blazer. We had to sneak a couple of shots while taking this.

Taipei 101 –  It’s not easy to take photos where there are too many people but it’s always good especially if you have a prime lens so they can be blurred because of bokeh. It was February but there were still Christmas lights and so the lighting is quite good enough to take photos.

There you have it, my friends! Hope you enjoyed the photos and some tips. May this help in achieving your feed goals. Enjoy gramming! x
