HOW TO DEVELOP YOUR PERSONAL STYLE: CLOSET CLEAN UP
After making the list of the basics, we will now move on to the most exciting part, The Closet Clean up. To sum it up in one word: THE PURGE
This actually consists of:
SORT, WEAR, TOSS
Classify the clothes in to five:
1a. What you always wear; usually would be your favorites, essentials, your go-to pieces, anything that’s wearable that you think represents you.
1b. What you do not usually wear but reserved for special occasions ie. gown for a wedding, cocktail dress for birthday party etc. You can keep those in a box or make a space for those in your closet)
1c. What you don’t feel like wearing anymore, haven’t worn for a long time, out of trend
1e. For repair
From the 1a pile, fit all of it and take note of the one that do not fit anymore and transfer those to the 1c pile.
Tip: While fitting the clothes, make sure you take note if you feel good while wearing the items. Remember, if you feel good, you’ll look good inside and out and this aspect is essential.
Tip: This is also the time to know and decide which items you think will fit your body shape. Does the item highlight your assets or does it make you look awkward or just emphasize the wrong parts of your body?
From the 1c pile, categorize those that you willsell (in good condition) or donate.
1d pile should be let go of and the 1e pile, ask yourself if those are worth it to be repaired or else add those to 1d.
