Whenever I go to Singapore, I make it a point to go to Bugis and Lucky Plaza. Travelling to the Merlion country ain’t cheap and for most of the time I do not want to splurge so much on shopping (I splurge mainly on food and tours etc) unless it’s something I planned and saved up on buying. Last time I went to Singapore, I challenged myself with a shopping budget. Good thing my mom tho was with me and we had a bit of a bonding while we stroll the stores in Bugis and in Lucky Plaza.
Lucky Plaza is a mall where you can find gems despite the way it looks. You just got to be patient and put more extra effort and you will find a unique item. I got this royal blue bag for only 15 SGD and it easily became one of my favourite bags last year.
TIP: some of the sellers do not allow haggling and when you ask for a lower price, they will just point to you the price sign so do not bother.
Bugis, ah Bugis. Prices here are a bit cheaper but one thing to take note of is that some stores sell the same items. So make sure you go around first before deciding to buy anything. This pleated skirt, I only got for 10 SGD. I can’t let go of it and with a little bit of urging from my mom, I finally gave in.
Have you tried budget shopping in Singapore? Any stores or mall you went in particular that you’d like share?
I might go back in Singapore this year and would love to try shopping for their local brands! Any recommendations? Please drop a comment below 🙂
